Grettings, everyone,

For this rant, I shall discuss the topic of Deadpool/Spiderman thread hijacks. Why, you may ask? Because although I cannot vouch for the average intelligence level (nor common sense level) of this forum, I can certainly state that we are not all perfect. Some may be dumber than others, others even dumber than them. However, I am not here to pick names on that subject. I am here to put an end to Deadpool/Spiderman thread hijacks.

Now, what are these hijacks? Simple really, they occur when a thread with lack of content, lack of reasoning, or just is flat-out stupid, gains interest in the forum populace. Most prefer to save the words to describe their opinion, and instead decide to hijack the thread by posting pictures of Spider-Man or Deadpool (both of which are characters owned by Marvel), typically in a meme format. This format then follows suit with other members, and as such the derailment of the threads original topic has begun. Most times these hijacks occur in threads with sensitive material, lack of content, or serve no real purposeful discussion whatsoever.

Why do I wish for this to stop? It's wasted bandwidth. Honestly, while looking at such threads provide the odd giggle through the memes, they're just plain annoying. If you want to have a barrel of laughs and posts those pics, feel free to hijack the Shoutbox with them (though do be warned that if you decide to spam pics in quick succession, you could get a warning point for spam). If you believe the thread is idiotic, lacks content, or holds sensitive material, feel free to report the thread to the Staff and I. We have those report buttons for a reason, or have you forgotten?

What will happen from here on out? Well, if we start seeing those hijacks a rollin', the thread will be locked down immediately for starters. All it takes is one pic, and it's locked. In some cases, depending on severity of the hijack, you may be granted a warning point for spam (because really, the pics serve no purpose than to offer a cheap laugh).

So, allow me to restate my points (TL;DR version):
  • These hijacks occur in topics with a lack of content, sensitive material, or have no purpose at all.
  • They must be stopped because they are annoying, and because there are better ways to handle such threads.
  • You may get warning points for hijacking the thread.
Now, are we all clear on the matter? Good, now STOP POSTING THOSE BLASTED SPIDERMAN/DEADPOOL MEMES ON THREADS!

Keemstar thread?

But in all seriousness, I'm not gonna lie, I started most of the Spiderman threads in recent times, and the rate of Spiderman threads has definitely increased, but doesn't that also mean the rate of nonsensical threads has increased? I'm aware Gold tried to herd the sheep by making an "Official Spiderman Thread", but it isn't really the same unless the OP is meme-tier.

Anyways, I guess this heralds the end for Spiderman threads. grabs his spidey pics and runs home

But I just got all these memes ready..... *disappointed face*
K, fine. :v
throws the memes in the trash :v gives them to @Mint
It's fun, but I agree it can be a tad bit annoying. x3

Yet, I would become to agree with you more. Remember... THIS IS... SPARRTTTTAAAAAAA!!!!!! *kicks all member who hijacks thread with deadpool/Spider-Man meme*

So what you're saying is that we can't hijack threads with Deadpool/Spiderman memes. All it takes for us to get around that rule is to find other types of memes to hijack with, and we're technically not breaking this rule. That's a rather faulty rule if you wish to stop the hijacking of threads in general.
You are correct. However, my aim with this was targeting a specific type of hijack that occurred most often on here. I've no doubt that will be broken in the near future, however I believe that was covered originally in the forum rules on a wider scale:

  • Do not hijack topics/go off-topic. No "pointless" replies such as "I don't know" or "maybe" either. Posts of this nature will be modified and/or removed.

I'm aware no warning points were listed for punishment, however hijacks have gotten to the point where they could be a punishable offence (to be politically correct). Purely for the fact they don't need to occur to halt a thread's motion of topic.

Been studying the rules all the time?

I honestly did not understand the point of hijacking threads. I never really found them funny. More than anything,I found them annoying and pointless to do. Even before I read your thread (GoldMeme) I was like," Instead of hijacking the thread and posting SpiderMan and Deadpool photos to a somewhat poorly made thread, people should just report the thread."

I guess what I'm trying to say is....Hijacking really isn't that funny. Escpecially if you do it a lot.
