How to change your skin in Minecraft PE [IOS] [without Jailbreak]

I searched in the internet for a few hours and found something interesting: It's possible to change the skin in Minecraft PE!

How you do it:

1. Download either iExplorer or iFunBox and connect your device with your computer. (Make sure you've closed iTunes to avoid problems)

2. Look for a skin in Planet Minecraft and click on "download" to save it on your computer. http://www.planetminecraft.com/resources/skins/

3. Then rename your skin file to "char.png" and leave it alone for a while.

4.Next you need to open iExplorer or iFunBox (It depends on which programm you have installed) and search for Minecraft PE in the application category. Click on it and then click on "minecraftpe.app" and scroll down till you found "char.png". Delete it and relace it with your file you downloaded from Planet Minecraft. And yeah that's it!

I tested it on my iPod and joined the world of my iPad and found out that both players got this skin, at least from the point of view of my iPod because on the iPad i could only see the normal steve skin. And when you look in the direction / are in the near of the other player it starts lagging badly.

Huh, now that's funny. Last I checked, we couldn't do this if we had iOS 6 or higher, due to the fact they locked permissions in modifying the Library folder's files. I might try this again though, as it seems to work from your confirmation.

Just redo it. In the update all files that don't correspond to the norm get replaced with the real ones. So your char.png got replaced with the actual on that has steve on it. I always do this on pc, so that I can enjoy my skin while playing offline too. And last time I checked, I thought this was a well known fact. The stupid thing about this is that in multiplayer everyone shares your skin.

Yeah, hopefully they'll get this feature added into MCPE at some point, preferably around the 1.2 Beta release is my best guess.

On twitter they stated that official skins will come some time within the next few bug fix updates. That could mean anything from 0.9.1 to 0.9.9

Jbernhardsson works for mojang.
Skinpacks will also come out (like on xbox) as in app purchases. I personally don't play mcpe but I guess that it's good news for most people on this forum.

Well, as long as we have the option of both adding our own or buying them, I'm fine with that. There's probably going to be more people going with their own skins, but there may also be some who wish to buy an existing skin because they are no good at skin-making.

Time to put that Minecraft skin maker in Pixel Gun 3D to good use!
 
I also know a Spider-Man skin pack in consoles. I wonder if there will be something "special" with the purchasable skins. Like the Iron Spider has 3D tentacles, 3D features somewhat like the 64x64 format, but more advanced. I hope you get it.

I highly doubt it. But Jens Bergensten (MC developer) has teased a new player model. Instead of 4 pixel wide arms they can be 3 wide. It will be optional, but that also means that we might get more options for character customization which is pretty nifty.

That'll be cool if we can have 3-pixel arms, definitely calls for much more customization. :grin:

As of now There's no info regarding PE. If it comes, it'll come to PC first. I doubt it will be released for consoles because of stupid microsoft and sony. If they do they'll make it a dlc that costs money. PE will probably be a higher priority than console for the first time.

id i have other ways, before i got mod s and texture packs too, thus it never works now
