Keep the name anonymous in ''disagree'' ratings.

Should the name be kept anonymous in ''Disagree'' ratings?

Title says it all. I think people shouldn't receive a name notification when a person disagrees with their posts. I feel that a person will just end up disagreeing in retaliation unnecessarily.

Funny how that works. I've seen users with posts that have been given disagree ratings, and no flaming/severe retaliation has been taken as of yet.

In any case, I prefer to know who disagrees with me, so that if it's necessary, I may message them and ask them why they disagree in a polite manner. However, I admit that's just me, I like to know of such things, rather than dismiss them as an anonymous person who gave me the remark.

Brb, gonna disagree with your post and block all PMs. Just kidding, but in all seriousness, there are a lot of kids in this forum who wouldn't think twice before making their comeback. Hell, even I wouldn't take the time to PM someone if I was in that situation.

As stated, that's just me. Plus, we have a team of Moderators ready to tackle those comebacks, and put the users in cuffs if need be (not in the literal sense, mind you).

I like to know who agrees and disagrees with me. But yeah,I could see your point. Or they could add the option of making your rating anonymous. For example. Let's say Termy says something I disagree with. I hit the disagree button and a option pops up saying,"Keep rating anonymous?". It would still notify you about someone disagreeing with you,but won't show that I disagreed with you. This would be an option. So I could still make it anonymous or make it public. It would be a win win for people who want to keep their votes private, but at the same time other users can see who voted for that. Just an idea....

Hmm, an anonymous option would be nice, but then again, like all nice things we're given, they can be overused, underused, or just broken by our touch. I foresee an anonymous rating in a way good, but just being me here (I know it sounds like my opinion should be the deciding vote, but it's not what I'm going for here), I still like to see who disagrees with me. If someone gave me an anonymous rating, I'd probably start tearing the forum apart to find out who did it (or pull a Batman and interrogate the crap outta everyone who comes my way).
Just saying, I still prefer to see who disagrees with me. And, considering the fact the forum community as a whole is closely knit, the odds of a user tearing someone out for simple disagree rating are pretty low, the more I think of it.
