Today's Roleplay is Crappier than Justin Bieber's 'Baby' Song!

Okay, you guys gotta stop with this bastardized version of Roleplaying. You guys are taking this crap way too seriously. You're all acting like salty little kids who got tagged 'It' in a game of Tag. Literally, all you guys are doing are typing colored words in a pathetic attempt of Power-play just to see who's the best. It's literally D&D with a very diluted and crappy system.

"What? People are getting salty over this?" Is what you, the (possibly)clueless member who's reading this might be thinking. And to that I say "YES". These people are getting "Salty" Roleplaying in a chat filled with colored text that symbolize their various Roleplay Characters. "WOT!? People have more than one character when Roleplaying?" And to that I say "YES!(again)". This is how freaking far people in this forum have taken this Roleplay shtick seriously.

Seriously, what are you people getting out of being the #1 Roleplayer? NOTHING OF SIGNIFICANCE. You got that? NOTHING. You people and your damned roleplay are TryHards at this point. Roleplaying isn't fun anymore! I can attest to that. Back in the early days of Roleplaying, it was more of screwing around, wasting some time, and having fun rather than taking the #1 Spot in a Pointless Roleplay Tournament or whatever the hell you call it. Why don't you 'Bum Hats' focus on the joy of Roleplaying rather than having the mindset of an Olympic Athlete aiming for number one in the Olympics?

Don't get me started on the Off-Topic Lounge as well. Take a damn look at it! It's filled with RP Related Crap. Instead of making multiple threads of RP, why don't you people just bunch it up in a SINGLE FREAKING THREAD? "But Haya, you bum, One Thread isn't enough to keep our RP crap neat enough!" You say. And to that I say "I don't give a damn!". This dilemma wouldn't have existed if you hadn't over complicated something that was supposed to be a Pass Time. If you guys really want a neat thread, then why don't you assign the current mods or OPs to put in more effort in editing that single Roleplay thread to make it legible for everyone rather than making a new thread? The redundancy of these kinds of threads is seriously getting on my nerves.

Also, the Shoutbox is barely even a place to talk about random stuff anymore! It's filled with Roleplay for God's sake. If you guys didn't know, the first Roleplay that happened in the forums was through a Thread. A place where it was contained. And then some moron decided to replicate the same thing and decided to change it up a bit. It then somehow jumped into the Shoutbox. Let me clarify that Roleplaying isn't necessarily bad in the Shoutbox, but when there are people that are trying talk to each other, especially clueless newbies that being overwhelmed by the seizure inducing texts that are popping up faster than a drunk man's thoughts; then you know it's gonna be a problem.

"But Haya, you used to RP too ya know? You even took some of it seriously too ya know?" And yes, I may come off as a hypocrite, but that never happened with every freaking RP battle. In the end, I think of it as a Skit rather than an Olympic Sports Event and my saltiness was never that bad that it had to be addressed by anyone. By the next day, it always starts off as a blank canvas rather than a badly painted rave party.

Lastly, I'll close off this rant with this statement: "Feel free to disagree with me and my post. All I ask is to state your reason as to why you disagree with me. Thank you for taking the time to read it."

Great rant, but most of people here will not agree on this one because most of our active members are roleplayers, well thats what they are, we can't just force them to change...

Roleplay is NOT whats keeping the forum alive, certain members talk about certain interests, as i am struggling to get MCPE to get linked to my xbox account, people still talk about stuff OTHER than RP but i honestly think that its getting complicated in a way, not that i want it to stop, but i remember when i first roleplayed, 99.69% of the ones roleplaying ignored the crap out of me, but i somehow enjoyed what happened in those days, god the feels, anyways this thread makes a lot of sense, the problem is. no one wants to look weak, especially our veterans (not calling anyone out of course) but yeah thanks for making this thread, hopefully no one makes a big fuzz about this than they already have, lets remember that its ROLEPLAYING and not something affecting life or some crap like that

Good argument, but I believe there are a few flaws. First off, dedicating a thread to RP is a terrible idea. Most people will be too preoccupied by it to even bother looking at the SB. If that happens, there is even less of a chance of interaction between members. At least with the current system people, like myself, can break from RP to reply to a fellow member. We'll also get a considerable amount of double posting, if this path is followed. Also, we created multiple threads for RP, because each one died after a week or so, everyone is just too used to using the SB.

I agree with your stance on salt-wars, it's getting ridiculous, especially when it comes to something as tedious as RP. But in some cases, it's not to do with RP at all, but members insulting each other to aggravate, then applying stress within RP. But not all flame-wars start with RP, look at the quite recent ones, they were caused by people who felt indifferent about RP, or straight up detested it (Not gonna mention who they were, but it happened recently, so you should know)

Let's say we went along with your plan, here is the vision of the future:

The systems like BAND are horrible, extremelly terrible.
We had something like this before, one of Lyne's forums was made just for RP only. Didn't work out since it was horrible and the forums got banned because of the hentai section in it.

I for one am impressed someone has posed a clearly thought out argument in regards to RP. I too have RP'ed, but I've tended to drop out of it often since stuff moves so fast I can't even keep on top of it all. Add in the 50+ characters of RP, and all their attributes, it gets to be intimidating.

In any case, reason it was thread based was because few people had an interest in it (and fewer people cared about it that heavily). However since its grown so big, it is why it's become SB-based. Plus, even the multitude of RP threads we have now are either fanfics, rankings, or a character list. Given how RP has become very fluid and constantly changing, lots of these threads die/go inactive for a while because nobody can keep up with how fast it changes.

In any case though, I am curious why the previous Shoutbox I'd commissioned is dead. I figured it'd be a nice way to differentiate the RP from the forum. Then again, might have something to do with lack of proper spread (it didn't get tossed around much actually).

If anyone wants to start using that Shoutbox though for RP, I'll post the link here: http://rpcom.getchat.xyz/

Anyways, I did have more thoughts, but currently I can't think of them. Might edit this post later if I remember then.

Which is why I'm trying to make some ideas but Vash hasn't respond or neither can do that.

That site is killing me.... I can't even log in with my username, I put down my username that I wanted to be it, it wouldn't even let me do that.

The cringey amount of powerplay in today's RP gave me the following diseases:
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Hepatitis C
  • Nose Cancer
  • Brain Cancer
  • Heart Cancer
  • @$$ Cancer
  • A Broken Neck
  • A Broken Back
  • Five Strokes at the same time
  • Six heart attacks at the same time as the strokes
  • Death
  • More Death
  • 420th Degree Burns
  • Everything else

There's too many characters for me to keep track of... I never know which one is talking in roleplay...

First of all what's wrong with roleplay,
You just read it. I don't have an issue with roleplay as a whole. My issue is the roleplay in this forum before this thread was made. If you were here before this thread was made, then you'd understand. Basically everyone was being salty when it came to RP. More powerplay than fun and there had been pointless arguments on the extent of certain Character's abilities.

second of all what's wrong with having more than 1 character
I understand that some users like to create to Roleplay characters because they like to be creative. But when they start roleplaying with multiple characters in the ShoutBox, then it starts becoming hectic or confusing. Every time I stumble into these "sessions" I don't even bother chatting with anyone. Because if I or anyone(who has no clue about the forum's roleplay system) even bother's to say something, they're probably busy to even reply because they're multitasking from character to character.

-third of all, how are roleplayers "tryhards"
-finally, no one is trying to be the best roleplayer.
You corrected yourself. Kudos.
"Ok maybe I somewhat agree with you now after seeing this thread.
http://pixelgun3dforums.com/index.php?threads/the-official-roleplay-rankings.15532/"

Something's you should just keep to yourself.
I usually do keep some things to myself. But when thing's escalate to a forum issue, then I would like to speak up about it. Not only that, but I usually wait for a 'Respectable' forum figure to make a thread about a forum-wide issue before I make my own thread about the subject. If I don't see any points I wanted to see on that other person's thread then that's the time I make my own thread. Because I do care about most of the people in this forum. Even if I don't seem like 'that' kind of person. When I see people that I consider 'Friends' fight over something so trivial, then that get's under my skin.

I believe he's referring to the roleplayers on this forum's Shoutbox, there can be some salt and rage there frequently
Funny because I was directly referencing the Forum at the start. :tongueout:
