Back, and Gone Again: My 20 Minute Experience in The Latest PG3D Update

Hello everyone,

So, recently I decided to resurrect my dad's iPhone 4S. I noticed I still had PG3D on it. I thought to myself, "well, may as well see if my assumptions of trash were accurate". So, I updated the app (alongside a plethora of other apps requiring updates), and went to it.

I was impressed that the training gave you a Firestorm this time around instead of something else entirely. Alongside that, I liked that I could equip any non-gem weapon that was upgradeable and use it in my arsenal. So, I picked a Hellraiser, Plasma Releaser (later Dual Revolvers), Diablo, Chain Thunderbolt, and Armageddon.

I decided to try out the ol' Sky Islands and give it a whirl in multiplayer. Armed with bare essentials, poor POV, and wooden armor, I joined a server and started to fight.

Correction: I joined a server and got taken out by the rental machine gun 5 seconds after spawning.

I only managed to strike one kill, and even then, barely. Everyone was using wooden armor, same as me, but running around with that rental machine gun. I thought to myself "if it's come to this, I don't want to see the rest".

And so, after the match, I gave the players my condolences (a "farewell OP rich kids"), and left the match. Then, I proceeded to remove PG3D from this ol' iPhone 4S, and removed it from GameCenter as well.

If a fresh newbie cannot even stand a chance on a mobile device like this, it's a good thing I left this game when I did. Wouldn't want to be the poor kid to finally get this app, and have his expectations ruined when he joins a map and gets crushed by overpowered weaponry. I know judging an app after 20 minutes seems a bit extreme and perhaps biased, but given how the game has changed, I am very glad I left when I did.

Good riddance PG3D, and good riddance RiliSoft.

WOW! I'm glad I bought armor XD

I totally agree, man. PG3D is already a disgusting mess, and every update only makes the mess messier. The janitors (Rilisoft) need to get out their mops and clean up this disaster before it's too late. Oh sorry, my bad, it IS too late. *Shakes head slowly and walks away*

If you think the game is now "Uncleanable Trash", then I suggest you stop playing it. This "Trash" of a game is not forcing you to play the game after all. If you think the game has no chance of improving, delete it. It's as easy as that.

Woah, that's a bit harsh. I still want to play it because it's still at least decent.

I can't believe Rilisoft doesn't look at the bad feedback, and see what they have done wrong. Gems still can't be earned without leveling up, which means they still want us to pay them money for that currency. And right when I install the update, there was some kind of winner pack. They still want us to give them our money. Rilisoft, just spit it out. Want our money? Make the app 99 cents! Simple as that. Quit trying to rip us off when you really aren't doing anything to me at all.

Rilisoft better read all of the bad feedback. They're basically ignoring all of us, because they think the ones with the good feedback are more important than us. We give good criticism, right guys? When you're ever doing anything, never be selective about your fans. I released Derp Edition of Brutal Doom, and I got a good amount of hate. But the difference is, I payed attention to everyone's feedback. I fixed what needs to be fixed so that it could be more "BALANCING". Rilisoft doesn't do anything like this, which disappoints me. They really need to learn how to use feedback, rather than setting it aside.

@RiliSoft , better start reading this post. Don't ignore it, take your time and actually comprehend better and understand what we really want. And on the other side, make a credits list. I see things ripped from other games, which include sounds, files, etc. Yes, I did jailbreak, but just to look into the files (I only jailbroke the device considered unimportant, but it was useful).

I also see you guys calling Rilisoft, the janitors, and Pixel Gun, Trash. I am starting to agree, but it's still not trash. They can fix everthing. They're just lazy and/or they're just manipulating us for their desire.

This game is turning into a pay-to-win game if it hasn't already. Sad to see the game go way downhill.

lol funny joke you all didn't experience when pg3d was actually good, you all probably started playing after summer of 2014. (minus Jacob and goldman obviously)
I started in the 7.0.0 versions. And I'm sure there are others who have started before the Summer update.
And also I think PG3D can still be saved. We just need to be patient and maybe a little more supportive to Rilisoft, though I agree they should pay attention to our post a little more. But who wants to reply back when they get insulted?

lol I started in early april and how will it be saved? remove every gun? lol its way too unbalanced
I started back in January. The only weapon that was op or annoying was the wand. They can always balance the guns out....?

I've been playing this game before the summer update. I got the during December of 2013

Gems are not a necessity. I can remove all my gem gear and still play PG3D. It's balanced, we just don't buy anything. And it isn't needed. A few of us are already trying to contact them. And be honest- there were improvements, right?
I don't think you've ever played Pixel Gun when it was like 2014. It's early stages without any armor at all, or any of that excessive crap.

You're right. Gems are not a necessity, yet you see a lot of other people going crazy and bonkers buying all this crazy crap.

You call that balanced? Really... Especially with people buying or hacking the game just for good crap. Really...

Improvements? Ummm... You're only thinking for the ones who purchase their currency or hack.

I agree with you in many ways but if there are many people willing to pay for the product they are providing, then why would a developer work harder to satisfy a larger number of people? If people keep spending tens or hundreds of dollars every time a new gun comes out, then this issue will remain.
I see where you're at, but we do tend to be sharp with Rilisoft. And no, they haven't ignored us completely. Gems are not a necessity. I can remove all my gem gear and still play PG3D. It's balanced, we just don't buy anything. And it isn't needed. A few of us are already trying to contact them. And be honest- there were improvements, right?
The update overall was quite good I thought, of course the friends list wasn't fixed but I'd rather have it back when it's completely fixed rather than one which still has bugs in it, so I can hide my time on that issue. The issue of balance in the game is a little exaggerated here, however I think it comes from concern about the general trend towards less balanced gameplay in favour of a pay to win model.

I agree with you in that this game CAN be saved, however to say that they don't reply because they are insulted is only a half truth in my opinion. Of course they get bombarded with people demanding for things like free gems and coins, which is never going to happen, or they ask for things to be fixed when they don't understand how much time/effort is needed to complete such tasks. Worse still is when people ask for features to be brought in, only to then complain about them later. I think we can all agree that we can sympathise with Rilisoft for having to put up with that, yet I can't help but feel that they give the same treatment to anyone who tries to provide honest feedback about any feature of the game and those that simply complain about every feature of the game. Just like any business-customer relationship there should be mutual respect between the two parties as they are dependent on one another. We should rightly condemn blind hatred directed towards the developers who have, on the whole, delivered many great features in this game, whilst at the same time, we should be demanding their respect.

Yeah why do people even spend money on a game meant to rip us off? Yes, these new things are coming out, but if Rilisoft understood us, they would really make an update with bugfixes and improvements, rather than all this weapon trash I've been seeing throughout the game itself. Just make the "purchase gems and coins" thing optional. Don't make one currency obtainable through real life currency. It's just stupid. MC5 does the same, but at least they have some kind of energy bar, where you would have to wait a while to get back to playing.

I've noticed those who are replying have never played the old Pixel Gun ever. I'm surprised.

If you were a developer, would you rather make a great game that makes a bit of money, or a poor game that makes a lot of money? You have to remember it's a business, so wherever it makes money, that's where they'll focus. Mobile games aren't like console games where quality generally determines the revenue that the developers will make.

As for your second point, I'm not sure if you were referring to me but I have been playing since version 5.0, so I do know of how this game has changed at least in the last year. It is also possible to get files of older versions, though I'm too timid to try it.

Personally, I would make an awesome game just for the community. Other app developers make money using ads. Why would I have to make a currency where you would have to pay if the app's just for great entertainment? I wouldn't even try to do that, because then there goes the negative feedback.

Rilisoft has even accomplished this perfectly with their v7.1.0 update, but they're railroading down the hill now.

Unfortunately, this game isn't just for great entertainment, it's purpose is to make money since someone would have had to invest their time and money into it. Im not saying that their method is the best way to do that, although it does seem to be a feature of many high grossing apps. I have argued that their is a balance that can be made between getting more money out of an app and satisfying a larger portion of the community, although I have to say that they didn't appear interested in hearing my suggestions.

Well, at least for us higher level players, gems aren't a necessity yet. Every single gun's last upgrade cost gems and luckily for us, we could get those last upgrades with coins, when the newer players have to use gems. The last upgrades are pretty much the whole point of the gun as it doubles the power of the gun. So unlike us, the newer players have to use gems to buy weapons so gems are a necessity for those newer players (unless the player is smart and saves up their gems throught the game) Seeing the newer updates adding even more op weapons, there will most probably have even more op weapons in future where everyone but us will have it because we cant get gems. Those weapons will be necessary as you will need stronger weapons to fight stronger players (better weapons). Every single thing rilisoft adds into the shop now cost gems, so we wont be buying any of those until rilisoft adds a way of getting gems.

Exactly, the introduction of gems has led to a devaluation of the coins, so much so that it has probably discouraged people from buying coins through IAPs since the gems have effectively taken over as the main currency in the game, especially for experienced players. The way things are going, coins will be phased out completely except for perhaps the purchase of beginner level weapons.

Or Rili$oft wants more money.

Bright Side: Those pesky hackers, and cheaters are getting their just desserts, or in other words, they'll wake up to see that they've been banned by Rilisoft. Also, there are still people willing to play with non-gem, and non-rental weapons (AKA our community).
Dark Side: What you've just mentioned in your thread. Somehow, some of the RAPs managed to fairly get the good guns, and they're still owning us till there's no tomorrow. And daters, lots of them.

Well, at least they'll be no more gear-spammers...right?
