So there's not enough single player modes to play on, and we need a way to get gems as well. So I was throwing around ideas and I though of a possible mode. Like the title says, it's hardcore. Basically it's survival but with hard monsters to beat and there is a limit of waves(10-15 maybe). And also no Mechs, potions, Turrets, jetpacks, and armor are allowed. There are pick up items and accessories are allowed(besides armor). Pick up items would be: armor(perhaps a rare drop?), ammo(gonna need it), and health(rare drop). If you suvive all the waves you get maybe 1-3 gems or some coins. But since there are some pretty OP like guns on PG3D that could make this a breeze to win. I think they only weaponry you get is the first guns you get on PG3D on Campaign mode. Different maps will have different type of monsters to make things a bit more interesting as well. I think this would be a great single player mode for when you don't have internet on long trips or so on. So what do you guys think about? Say in the comments what you think or if you think some thing need to be changed.
Edit: The Hardcore maps have ledges and things to jump onto, unlike Survival mode. But also perhaps a monster that can climb ledges and other things. So nobody can just sit on the ledge and shoot the monsters below. But this monster will be somewhat slow to allow players a bit of high-ledge sniping. And also a few ones that are fast to keep things interesting.

I think this would be an effective way to earn gems, seems well balanced.

I have been in the shout box a lot in my first days on this server and have been talking to the development team for new ideas. And while in the shout box I have been discussing a lot of what should be added in single player mode. And this is one of the things that ruby brought up and the people in the shout box agreed that it was a decent idea. I for one thought of a few shop adjustments such as a 24 hour trial for all guns. But I think the problem with the amount of single player game modes is what needs work. The last update on single player that I noticed was in the survival mode. And that was just an addition of maps. The maps unfortunately don't hide the fact that it can get a bit boring. The multiplayer modes have gotten all the work, and I understand that's what this game revolves around. But as I said, there is just no fun in the campaign if you are a routine player like me. I have gotten three stars on all the campaign maps and I just find that running in circles and shooting fish in a barrel is old and boring. We need more singpe player game modes. Please excuse my rant, this is something I'm a bit passionate about being that I'm constantly away from any internet connection.

Good idea, I like the idea of new single player modes, due to the fact that the most exiting PG3D single player mode is survival, and that is not very good. I, however, would change the idea so that survival would have have different difficulties, like hard, easy, or medium. Also, take away the limited waves feature. Instead, in normal or hard mode there would be a boss, like the dragon or slender, every five or ten waves. The player would be rewarded gems after completing the boss wave. In normal waves, you would just get a coin per wave. In easy, the boss would just give extra coins, not gems. I also think there should be a single player training groung with bots in the some level tier as you. Single player has gotten so boring, it makes me sick.

I think limited waves should stay and yes for for getting gems for it as well. It is hard for higher lvled players to get gems and doing daily rewards is just not enough. Limited waves make it so gems are TOO easy to get and so it doesn't became boring in a short while of time. Their will also be different maps and monsters each time as well and the monsters get harder within each wave. And the last wave have a boss. Also you do not get gems every time you win a wave, I was thinking just getting mostly coins then after you defeat the boss you get a certain amount of points depending on the kills and scoring you got.

I was just saying what I thought would be cool. Rilisoft probably isn't going make this mode anyway, knowing them.

Still doesn't do any harm in suggesting it anyways :]
It's just for them to think about and the community to think about.

Since it is hardcore, I'd agree with @Black-Butler in the ability to choose a difficulty. Easy should be the current survival; medium could be your original idea, with armour allowed, every weapon allowed, but with smarter mobs, and perhaps mobs that have a projectile attack(not high in terms of damage, because that wouldn't leave much for hard mode), and bosses at the end of every 5-10 waves; Hard(core) could be a boss at the end of every wave, with their attack damage slowly raising, and having both a combination of long and short range attacks... Easy could get you some coins, medium can give 1-5 gems, and hard would give both gems and coins. It'll take work, but it could solve lots of problems. Any other suggestions that we could use to make this (whole thread, not just mine) a solid idea?
I don't think Medium should give you gems, then It would be way too easy to get gems. Besides that I don't like the levels of difficultly idea for hardcore, if there would be any levels It should be just for survival. Because Hardcore mode maps aren't the same as survival, instead of just having a small ring to shoot in is would be slightly larger and have ledges, boulders, or trees depending on what map you are on. But the monsters in each map are smarter, faster, some camouflaged, and some climbing walls(to prevent a player just sitting on a ledge and shooting the monsters below easily). I don't want levels of difficulty, I want something Hardcore that is very challenging to players. It's boring running around in circles shooting monsters that aren't exciting. Putting levels in would just destroy the meaning of Hardcore unless the levels rise above hardcore levels. Also we don't want gems too easy to get so I still say it should depend how many kills and points you get at the end of the final Hardcore wave. No offense but putting levels in would make it boring very quick.

Projectile mobs would be pointless in a ring arena. I'd assumed that that was understood, but my mistake. Medium not giving you gems might be a better step, in increasing player skill and such, agreed. So if there wouldn't be a place to select a difficulty, this would be a whole new thing? That could work. The deciding factor at the end of the hardcore wave, for simplicity, could use the current points/kills system from Multi-player. The projectile attacks could stay with bosses, if it's too complicated. As for the maps used here, would they take from Multiplayer, campaign, or brand new maps?
I was going to say maybe use some old maps for like Slender Forest just for the heck of it and new maps that are specifically made for Hardcore. And for bosses and monsters I was thinking about drawing some and creating stats(with everyone's help) of them as well as maps. And different maps(which in when you click on Hardcore mode it sends you randomly to one) they would have different monsters and boss to go with that map. Like lets say there is a rocky ledge/lava type map. The monsters would have characteristics that make them look like they are from that map(unlike survival where it's the same ones every time). And the ideas of Bosses having better attacks other than coming up to you and biting/hitting you is a great idea. It makes it so the player has to dodge bullets like in multiplayer. So in the said map example the boss would be a lava/rock boss that spits fire and maybe throw rocks.

Seems like you got all this down. Bosses may need a community voted balancing, and some mobs could just be re-textured for simplicity. If you need any help designing, we have lots of map/mob designers on here.
I was going to draw them out on paper with pencils then post them on here to give everyone an idea on how bosses and monsters would work. Then they talk about the design and/or design some monsters/bosses and post them on this thread, same goes for designing maps.

That works too... Now you have something extra to do away from the computer X3
Best part is I actually have some sketching/tracing paper that would be great for drawing designs :]
Problem is I'm busy with school right now during the day @_@
I guess I could do it at night(along with catching up on writing my chapters for a novel), haven't been able to sleep anyways.

I have started on a few designs for some of the monsters and bosses. I have also talked to my brother and he agreed to help me with designing monsters/bosses and maps and finding a good range on what their stats will be.
We were discussing this mode today and this is what few ideas we came up so far:
  • The flare gun: Doesn't do any damage to enemies but when player shoots it in air a crate with supplies will float down somewhere. In order get this gun you must find on that dropped (it is an item drop) on ground somewhere and you only get to use it ONCE. Once player has used flare gun it leaves player's weapon loadout and to get the gun again player must find another flare gun drop.
  • Supply crates: Only way to obtain them is in the said way above ^. In these crates there may be armor with some health or gun with ammo. So there in each supply crate there will always be at least two items.
  • Armor: Will not be allowed to equip Armor set. Only way to obtain armor is if you get it as an item drop(rare drop).
  • Health: Pick up health as an item(mildly dropped. Not exactly rare but not common either)
  • Weapons: When you first start on a map the weapons you start out with is the knife and Pixel Handgun. Knife is the ONLY melee weapon you can get. Players can obtain other guns by finding them dropped on ground(so are rare, some are common). But there are only certain guns that are allowed in Hardcore. The weapons you get on campaign mode plus maybe the Apocalypses premium gun and flare gun. Once that gun runs out of ammo it is taken off of player's weapon loadout. Player can use the gun again it he/she finds it as a drop again.
  • Ammo: Is an item drop(not rare but not common either).
  • The Pixel HandGun: This is just an idea me and my bro was discussing but this gun would have unlimited ammo. They can be pros and cons about this idea but it's worth throwing it out there as an idea to think about.
That's all I have for now on this I'll post more later once I toss around a few more ideas for maps and monsters/bosses with my brother. Please post if you have any thoughts or ideas on this ;]
