I think that a lot of players is doing that, and I have myself done that a lot of times when I found out that it was possible.. Now I think that it is wrong to do it, so I never do it while I am in the middle of a 1 vs 1 fight, but if I am in hiding my coincidence (do not know if that is the right word) allows me to do it still.. But I agree that, even though everyone can do it, it is somehow faulty play.
Worst experience ever:met a hammer spammer who tried to spam others and killed himself immediately.Rilisoft really sould do something like making 3 self-kill equals a real kill(by others)

Its not just annoying it makes you rage to know that these idiots (even i have done it my self but only when i am at seriously low health ) want to hide inside that thick layer of armor just so that they can win

I deal with these players with the mines launcher...when they try to blow themselves up I blast them away from their own explosion. Try this and see if it helps.

I bought the Bastion, due I thought that since I loved the mine launcher I would really really love the Bastion, but it is not very good and way too overpriced. The mine launcher is in my opinion way better.I love it too

Heh..I was going to make a thread about this problem. I have killed myself many of times,but most of it is by accident. either I some sort of area damage weapon and blow myself off the map (sky islands) or somebody comes around a corner and I manage to kill both of us. It's annoying when people do this.
EDIT: It's also annoying when you may body shot a player with something like the prototype,but as soon as you try to hit them again with it or another weapon,theey kill themselves before you can kill them. This is also annoying when you're in TDM and there's not many players on the other team to kill.

In fact the self -killing behavior happens more often when u start minning(that's what I do) and they realize that they can't stay alive under your bombardment...but if you use the weapon only when they are trying to do ,I think its okay

Not really, most people do this to make sure that they always have FULL ARMOR and they will feel too insecure if they have the sliggtest amount of damage on thier armor

I see this too in game. I do not even look at my armor, but since I often blow my self up when I try to rocket jump, maybe I should :-)
