The small framed, light-blue haired girl awoke to the sounds of wind-chimes and bird song. As the sound of sizzling eggs and bacon was heard, young Liesel opened her eyes, rubbing away the last traces of sleep and walked down the creaky, wooden steps.

A taller, dark-haired woman turned, smiling cheerfully to her precious child. "Good morning, sweetie" Liesel's mother said cordially. Liesel smiled, sat down at the table, and wolfed down her breakfast.

Another boy entered the room, geared up and ready for hiking. He patted his sister on the head, and greeted his mother. "Where're you off to, Anton?" Liesel inquired, as her mother began clearing away the dishes in the background. Anton smiled, "Don't you watch the news, dummy? The troopers return today, the East-Archaedian region had a ceasefire! After a moments notice, Liesel excitedly got ready, and rushed out of the house, with her brother. This would be the first time she would meet her father, although her mother insisted her father had seen her before the war.

Trekking through the meadow, Liesel traced her fingers along the emerald green stems of the sunflowers, inhaling the sweet, rich scent of morning dew.

Lost in the wonder, overwhelmed by a range of senses, Liesel noticed a dark shadow looming overhead. "Anton, it must be raining soon, I haven't got my coat!"

Liesel got no response from her elder brother, who simply pointed above to the dark cloud, a mass of screaming matter, letting out a low-pitched whine, as the vegetation around them started to decompose....
