The alien gun eludes me

Can anyone tell me why I'm not unlocking the alien gun when I complete the mission area 52? I've completed both campaigns (with all stars) too, but for some reason when I complete that mission it doesn't give me the alien gun to use for campaign mode or multiplayer.
 
It only says enter the portal. And when I complete the mission it just goes to the next but no gun.

XD the alien gun. It's been forever since I've used it.
