Screw! The! MECHS! They suck! Instead, add a special with DEPTH. I introduce to you... BATTLESUITS!
Imagine a pixel-like Marine from StarCraft 2. That would be a battlesuit. These suits bind to your character when you spawn, it has to be destroyed to release your character onto the battlefield. These battlesuits have their own weapons, armor, and abilities... LIKE A GIANT FLAMETHROWER! These mechs are essentiallly a large shell for you but act like players. They have their OWN weapon set and their own armor. In a battlesuit, you could also unleash a ton of abilities for the type of battlesuit you selected. For a Marine Battlesuit, you would unleash a flurry of Stinger Missiles in front of you. Or for a Berserker Battlesuit, you could drop a NUKE on the battlefield.
I even know of a few battlesuits you could start with. [One quick thing, most battlesuits cost 50 coins each]
Marine Battlesuit - This suit is given to you at level 12 and can get any job done, not saying it's the best at anything.
Flamer Battlesuit - Uses fire-based weapons and can launch napalm at their enemies.
Marksman Battlesuit - Your sniper mech. Can make a quick escape with the STIMPACK ability.
Flyer Battlesuit - Same as Marine, only with a perma-jetpack.
Gravity Battlesuit. Same as Marine, only this can walk on walls and launch players 20 meters beck with the Gravity Surge ability.
Elite Battlesuits [75 coins]
Mr. Speedy - Mobility of 250.
Master Berserker - Marine with 3 times the armor and can mow down EVERYONE with the Nuke ability.
Hero - An insanely upgraded Marine.
That's only a few, bet there's SO MANY WAYS you could go about this!
